Crowther Associates Architects have been appointed by Rottingdean Cricket and Football Clubs to produce designs for a new community sports pavilion, replacing the existing facility at the Rottingdean sports ground. The plans include extensive changing facilities, for both cricket and football, and a new larger multi function social room that will allow the club to open up to the wider community.
The club is located within the South Downs National Park so the materials chosen, such as flint work and timber cladding, typify those found in the buildings in historic village of Rottingdean and the agricultural downland fringes. The site backs on to open downland so a green roof has been included to lessen any impact on the views from the National Park and sets the building in to the shape of the valley.
Pre-Planning advice is currently being sought from the South Downs National Park Authority to enable the first steps to be taken by the club to secure funding for the build.
